Who may apply? Applicant must be a high school senior or equivalent with firm plans to attend college. Applicant need not be of Irish heritage. Applicant must be a student in a San Antonio, Texas high school, or home schooled in San Antonio, Texas.TOP What do I have to do? Applicant must submit a completed application form. Applicant must submit an essay on a specified topic of Irish interest: history, theater, genealogy, artists, writers, etc.TOP What is this year's subject? The Subject for this year is given on the application form. TOP Is the Application Form really needed? YES, In order for your application to be considered the application form absolutely must accompany your titled essay. Your name must not ever appear anywhere on the essay itself. TOP Where do I get an Application Form? The Scholarship Committee sends a letter with a copy of the application form to high school councilors for duplication and distribution as needed. You can also get an Application Form from this web site and print it directly to your printer. TOP What is the submission deadline? The deadline is given on the Application Form. No submission will be accepted after the deadline. Delivery after the deadline is too late. TOP What is the scholarship amount? The Scholarship is a one time award of $500.TOP When do we find out who won? The winner will be announced to the membership at our May meeting. The winner will be formerly announced at Family Membership Day (June), and honored by being given the opportunity to present their essay as one of the distinguished speakers for that day. The winner's name will appear on the ICS Scholarship page as the current winner.TOP How is the scholarship paid? The winner will be paid directly by check at our June Membership Day meeting. TOP Where do I send my submission? This information is included on the Scholarship Application Form. TOP Will my submission be returned? NO. All submissions become the property of the Irish Cultural Society (ICS), and the applicant grants the ICS a non-exclusive license to publish the essay On-Line, in the ICSSA's monthly newsletter or collected works. Should a submission be reproduced by the ICS, the author will be credited.TOP What Format is required? The required form and format is included on the Scholarship Application Form. TOP How do I get more information? Questions concerning the scholarship program which are not answered in this FAQ listing may be forwarded to the chairwoman - scholarship committee, and she will try to answer by return email.
