IRISH CULTURAL SOCIETY the Noel Henry dance. The revenue from the dance has grown steadily over the years. The net cost for Irish Heritage Day was $944. He also announced that this year's Christmas Party is set for December 7 at the Fort Sam Houston Officers' Club. NEW BUSINESS: Al Gillen made a motion, seconded by Peggy Doherty, that we amend the bylaws to make the scholarship committee a standing committee. The membership will be notified by newsletter and the motion voted on at the next meeting. A fine boy's jacket, tuxedo style, was left at Irish Heritage Day; Tom Hyland is holding it. A nominating committee consisting of Tom Sweeney, John Donellan or Tom Hyland, and Pat Gillen will seek to fill the posts of Vice-President, Treasurer, Social Chairman, Planning Chairman, Public Relations Chairman, and two members-at-large. The Gillens told about a reasonably priced cruise with Andy Cooney, featuring Irish entertainment, out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida in January 2002. Elaine Hyland's brother, Thomas Jackson, just passed away. There were members in attendance. After the meeting was adjourned, videos of Hal Roach, a superb comedian, were shown. Respectfully submitted Peggy Hill, Secretary |
