IRISH CULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING - June 18, 2000

President Tom Sweeney called the meeting to order.
The meeting began with the election of new officers for
positions open on the board.

The ballots were counted by nominating members Tom Hyland
and Maura Ciarrocchi (Maura filled in because of the absence
of two members of the nominating committee.)

The following members were duly elected and installed:
Louis Kelley, President; Peggy Hill Secretary
Kay Delaney, who was re-elected as Membership Chair
and Lucille Lindsey, Social Chair (completing a 1 year term).

Tom Sweeney thanked all the board members who were in office
for their support during his term as president.

Maura gave an update on our treasurer Bob Slattery's, progress
since his recent surgery. He is doing well and hopes to join
us when ICS hosts the July 11 Pool party and lunch for the
Ulster Project-Arlington teens and counselors, Ulster Project-
Arlington was explained and maps to the pool area, at Holy
Spirit Convent this year, from 1-4 p.m.

Member Joan Moody gave information on the Champion Irish
Dance Feis set, for Oct. 7 at Holy-Spirit Hall. Dena
Dalton is the contact person, One of several events will
be an Irish Soda Bread contest. The event is sponsored
by the Inishfree School of Irish Dancing under the direction
of Champion Irish Danter Niall.Reagan, He will also provide
catering services. For the first time, the event will
bring dancing competitors from all over the Southwest to
San Antonio. A motion was made by Al Gillen and seconded
by Lou Kelley that ICS put an advertisement in the program
for the event up to the amount of $50. The motion was passed
and Bob Slattery will be notified of the deadline for placing
the ad, which is September 8. A flyer on the event will be in
our September newsletter.

Following the program, "A Taste of Ireland" (Irish food and
recipe sharing), the meeting closed around 6 p.m. There will be
no meetings in July or August.
