IRISH CULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING - April 14, 2002 The minutes and treasurer's report were read andapproved. The balance in our checking account is $13,996.09. The Noel Henry dance was the most profitable to date. 760 tickets were sold. Bob (Slattery) itemized the expenses for Irish Heritage Day. The total net cost was $510. The person running the food booth paid $30 and was allowed to keep whatever profit came from it, which was a good solution. There was some discussion of new sites for next year's Irish Heritage Day. President Kelley asked us to please take suggestions and recommendations to Maura for the next board's meeting. Two other concerns were noted for discussion by the board: Nora's thought about doubling the donation to St. Patrick's Church, and Al's suggestion that the social chairman's duties be separate from Irish Heritage Day and the dance, which should have committees of 'their own. Shirley Hynes made a plea that we look ahead to next year and form a volunteer team to plan and execute decorations for the dance. Sister Carmel thanked those who made it such a success. Membership chairman Kay Delaney said that bulk mail is taking a week to deliver because of extra security measures. A clear scholarship winner has been chosen and will be invited to the June meeting. John Donellan, Tom Sweeney, and Joan Moody were selected for the nominating committee. After a short refreshment break, our member Mary Jo Quinn |
